Louise Morgan Runyon has been awarded a grant by the Jackson County NC Arts Council for her upcoming book of poetry, Where Is Our Prague Spring? (working title). This will be her fifth book of poems. Projected publication is October, 2022.
Against the backdrop of the pandemic, this book will look at Runyon's deep love for the natural world of the mountains of North Carolina; at her childhood experience of love there; and at her attempts to reconcile this love with the hatred and division of the present. The poems will also explore the role of Runyon's visionary and activist family, among many other progressive forces in the Southern Appalachians.
