Louise Runyon will perform "Tether," a duet with a double bass instrument. This dance/puppetry piece is informed by the dance that occurs between a musician and the stand-up bass, an instrument that inspires verticality and uprightness and one which keeps a tight rein on the musician, with significant implications on the question of relationship. In this show that "demonstrates what happens when two art forms collide," numerous other Atlanta artists will present their work.

Directions: Take I-20 west to Lee Street; Left on Lee Street; Left on Ralph David Abernathy; sharp Right on Metropolitan Parkway. Arts complex is immediately on the Right. Gate code will be posted. Once inside the gate, turn Right and go straight back past the end of the buildings to the other side of the courtyard. Gallery is next to the blue tower. Marta: Get off at West End station.

Louise Runyon and Lori Teague will be performing an excerpt from their duet, "Double Coat." "Double Coat" is a "stealth romp" in black velvet coats with film noir flavor. This piece explores the larger-than-life, heightened tension of an "assignation," and the revelation of individual humanity and authentic relationship cloaked under this cover. Other dance companies will also be performing: Zoetic Dance Ensemble, Metropolitan Ballet Theatre, Good Moves Consort and Full Radius Dance.

Runyon will present two new dance works: "Double Coat," a duet with Lori Teague, and "Tether," a brand new duet in which Runyon's partner is an upright bass instrument... Two other choreographers, Julie Galle Baggenstoss and Terry Hollis, will also present new work.

"Double Coat" is a "stealth romp" in black velvet coats with film noir flavor. This piece explores the larger-than-life, heightened tension of an "assignation," and the revelation of individual humanity and authentic relationship cloaked under this cover. "Tether" is informed by the dance that occurs between a musician and the stand-up bass, an instrument that inspires verticality and uprightness and one which keeps a tight rein on the musician, with significant implications on the question of relationship.

Julie Galle Baggenstoss is an Atlanta Flamenco teacher and dancer, and a knockout dancer and choreographer. She will present two new pieces, with five dancers and five musicians. These pieces are a real treat! Terry Hollis is an Atlanta native who has returned home after 16 years dancing in New York with many different companies. He is an exciting dancer and choreographer, not to be missed!

Louise Runyon and Lori Teague will premiere "Double Coat," a "stealth romp" in black velvet coats inspired in part by film noir. The piece explores the larger-than-life, heightened tension of an "assignation," and the revelation of individual humanity and mutual relationship cloaked under this cover.

New choregraphy will also be presented by brooks & company dance, Blake Beckham, Brooks Emanuel, Myriam Farrero, Jamie Horban, Jahara Phoenix Dance Company, Notchyomama’s Modern Project, Julie Mueller and Ann Ritter.

Directions: From the entrance to the Decatur MARTA Station on Church Street: Go south on Church Street (towards Agnes Scott College); turn R at the first light onto Trinity Place. Beacon Hill will be several blocks down on the L, just before the railroad overpass. Entrance is in the FRONT of the building! Wheelchair access is up the ramp and through the stage door; all others enter through the theatre door, a little further downhill. Beacon Hill Arts Center shares a building with the Decatur Police Station; Beacon occupies the L-hand side of the building. Free parking on the street or in the parking lot on the NE corner of Trinity Place and Swanton Way, just east of Beacon.

Did you know? There are 5 wonderful greenspaces within the city limits of Decatur! In honor of earth day, artists have been selected to install sculptures in these greenspaces (see below), and Louise will be performing her dance/poetry piece, "Garden Peace," at Oakhurst Community Garden (see above). Also at Oakhurst Community Garden, Elise Witt will sing and there will be plants for sale, beautiful white goats to pet and feed, a cake contest, caricature drawing, and more. For map to greenspaces:

Jhon is returning to Atlanta from Texas to perform a new work, and his work is always a treat!
